Kampong Trach

Kampong Trach is one of Kampot’s best little-known day trips, with dramatic limestone hills, cave temples, rice fields, and village roads that still feel uncrowded. For more background, see our full Kampong Trach guide.

Getting there

Kampong Trach is about 35km from Kampot, just past Kep. The main road out there is paved and easy to ride, but if you want to head into the rural areas around the caves, then you may end up on dirt roads. A tuk-tuk or local guide is often easier because the attractions are spread out and not always clearly signposted. Plan on a full day if you want time for limestone cliffs, caves and villages in between.

Best time to visit

Dry months make cave access and road conditions easier, but green season can make the landscape especially dramatic. Start early if you want time for multiple cave systems plus breaks in villages. Wear shoes with grip.
